Make Red Your Color

Many of us know that heart disease is the biggest health risk for women – yet too few of us are taking steps to protect our heart. This February, join Duke Heart Center for two fun events and learn how to get started.

  • Pretty Party In Red: Friday, Feb. 7, 5:30-9pm, Brier Creek Country Club, 9400 Club Hill Drive, Raleigh, Cost: $15 Kick off your heels, lace up your sneakers and join us after work for the second annual Pretty Party in Red. Wear your favorite red workout outfit or accessory, enjoy a heart-healthy dinner and dance the night away with national ZUMBA expert, Erica Dixon.
  • Heartbeat Culinary Showcase: Saturday, Feb. 15, 10am-1pm, Embassy Suites in Cary, 201 Harrison Oaks Blvd, Cary, Cost: $10 Eating right helps protect your heart. Join foodies and chefs from around the area for heart-healthy cooking demonstrations, tips for grocery shopping and recipe sharing.

And there is still time to sign up for Duke Regional Hospital’s . . .And The Beat Goes On, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 10 am. Participants will learn the signs and dangers of atrial fibrillation, a common heart rhythm disorder from Tim Donahue, MD, Chief of Cardiology at Duke Regional Hospital.
