Supporting women cancer patients in the community

Cancer: A diagnosis that has likely touched the life of someone you know, whether it’s a family member, friend, neighbor or even yourself. It can be devastating for the patient and his or her loved ones.

To support women battling cancer, Durham Regional has partnered with the American Cancer Society to offer “Look Good…Feel Better.” “Look Good…Feel Better” is a free, monthly program that teaches women beauty techniques while they undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Participants receive a free cosmetics kit and instruction by volunteer beauty professionals about makeup, skin care, nail care and ways to deal with hair loss such as with wigs, turbans and scarves.
